Stop throwing away your worn guitar picks! If you use guitar picks like most guitar players, then after a time of playing you may notice the end of your pick getting a little dull.
You could get rid of them if that happens and buy more, but picks are rather expensive right? there is something that you can do that may just double your pick life.
You can sharpen the end of the pick on carpet and it will be like knew. I learned this from my first guitar teacher and its really helped me shape the ends of my picks the way I like it.
Sometimes the end might be a bit to rounded and I would just like a tiny point. Having that pointed edge gives you a bit more string attack and can allow you to pick a bit faster or glide over the strings easier.
To sharpen the pick just turn the pick on its side and swipe the edge of the pick on the carpet a few times. Then turn it over on the other side and do the same. After doing this a few times you will have a nice sharp point! You can try this with various sizes of picks to get the exact pick end you are looking for!
